Princess Preview Party in Indianapolis
Tomorrow, Tuesday August 1st, Local game store Valkyrie's Vault will be hosting a Perils & Princesses preview party just outside of Indianapolis. I'll be there demoing the game with the included mini adventure "The Rosewood Crown". ACTUAL PRINCESSES from Courage & Kindness Co. will be in attendance doing a storytime for kids and accepting donations to help bring their Princess Magic to children in need. I'm crazy excited to play this game with some new folks! Event starts at 5pm!
What about Gen Con?
I won't have a table or be hosting any games at Gen Con itself. But I will be hanging out on Trade Day Wednesday and checking out the conference center with my 11 year old all day Thursday. Maybe next year we'll have built the P&P community and I can host a game at the con or something! I'll add that to my list of wishes I hope come true.

Don't get me wrong. There's so many ways to face the perils of the dark depths of the world without drawing your weapons. Charming songs, A magic kiss, stealthy heists, making friends, forming truces and alliances, creating diversions are all part of this adventure. But sometimes that hungry spider just won't back down and you need to fight your way through their webs.
Simple Resolution
Combat can be boiled down to a few simple rolls:
- Test WITS to see if you act before the monster you face. Successful princesses with their wits about them react quickly. IF you fail, the monster gets the first swing.
- Test RESOLVE for at hand attacks and test GRACE for ranged attacks like a bow and arrow. If you succeed roll the damage dice for your weapon. Rolling a 1 is CRITICAL and you get extra damage.
- When it's the monster's turn, test your GRACE to defend yourself. If you fail they get to roll their damage dice. If you roll a 20, that's CRITICAL for the monster and they ignore your armor.
- You can always use your abilities, think up any ANTICS, work together and be clever and creative during a fight. The GM will ask you for a virtue test to see if you succeed.
Weaponry
In addition to having different damage dice, each weapon you might bring along on your adventure has a unique attribute. Some are light and sneaky. Some double as practical tools outside of fighting. And some pack a punch but are bulky and hard to manage. Here's the current list of weapons for Perils & Princesses. The list is pared down, but there's plenty of room for folks to invent their own weapons down the line!
What would be your character's weapon of choice? One of these, or something not on this list?
